Extra Moola

While alot of buisnesses are cutting down on costs and people, I feel truly lucky to still be getting my year-end bonus next month (The Boyf is not as lucky)

I have started thinking about what I should spend my money on or whether I should save it all.

I always dream of taking my whole year-end bonus and spending it on a party, a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes or a plane ticket...but sadly that would not be wise or practical *sigh*

I think this year I am edging toward spending it on things I really need: new tyres, eye check up, new glasses etc etc..

A bit boring, huh? but truth is sometimes i need to strap those impulses in and take them for a ride down sensible lane. heehee

Are you getting a christmas or year end bonus? If so, what will you be spending it on this year?

  1. I do not get a year end bonus. I work for Starbucks and I don't think they think we need any extra-- but who doesn't!? Starbucks' stock is slipping anyways.

My mom did buy my sister and I tickets for a cruise to the bahamas though. Yay!

  2. Thanks for the comment! I was just looking at your blog lol.

I get quarterly bonuses. Last one I spent on a new camera for myself. Which was a great purchase.

But the next one will probably be spent on something sensible or should I say boring?!

    I'd go for those shoes...yummy!

  3. Unfortunately no bonus for me. Been unemployed since July, and it's been hard for me to find the work I normally do in my local area. The U.S. economy is very much "down the toilet." :( But hey, congrats to you on yours! Even though it would seem "obvious" to go with something you need, sometimes you really do deserve to treat yourself!

  4. Assuming I'm still getting one... mine's going straight into my savings, piggy bank. Though, I'd rather spend it on a shopping spree or something, but alas, the grown up life calls for me to be sensible.

Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it'll be worth it.

  5. Bonus - what's that? We're lucky if we get a wage rise every other year...

  6. I work in education-- so the end of the "year" is in May when school is out.

I definitely think you should save-- or if you feel the need to spend buy some new tires.

My little shopping secret is... when I feel the need for some retail therapy but I cannot spend..
I gather up all my old clothes that I don't wear anymore and bring them to Buffalo Exchange-- a sell/buy swap shop.

It feels so good to clean out the closet and I usually will come back with one or two new pieces that I just love!

As for this year, I think I am going to be paying down a ton of debt.

  8. I'm so so so so so glad you love the Twilight series too! I tried to fight the urge, but I bought Eclipse today. I've started it, and it's not disappointing yet. The lady at the book store said the last one is the best. I'm OBSESSED!!!!!

  10. No year end bonus for me as I have my own business but if I did have one I would spend it on something practical but maybe with a slightly frivolous edge -so I'd buy some new glasses but get a slightly funkier pair than I would normally go for!

  12. All my extra money will go towards my two year olds medicine and doctor bills. So mine isn't any more exotic as yours.

  16. I wish I was getting a bonus! If I did, I'd spoil TSC for our 2-year wedding anniversary, take a holiday or buy some new furniture for our new house so it wouldn't look so empty!

  17. You're doing the right thing. The bonus must be spent on the things you really need at the moment.

Soon you'll earn more and get all thise pleasant things you're longing for now. That's for sure.

  18. Unfortunately my company does not do bonuses at all - regardless of the state of the economy.
However I am getting a rather sizeable tax rebate. I am going to use it to pay up some debt, get some goodies done to my car, and was maybe going to spend it on this beautiful bag I want but since I busted my ankle I'll be using that money for medical bills. Ho-hum, at least I get to do away with the debt! And maybe one day I'll know the feeling of getting a 13th cheque!
