Copy cat

Plagiarism is very uncool.

Today I read that Miss Musing, a blogger I enjoyed and I had been reading for a while, had been copying other peoples blog posts and passing them off as her own (very uncool & naughty!). Her blog has now been removed by blogger.

Its very hard for me to understand why someone would do this. Isn't a personal blog suppose to be a place to express "YOU"? To me, copying someone else's thoughts and sharing someone elses experiences is just pointless. Why even bother blogging then?

Sure, I have been inspired by other peoples writing and secretly wished it was my work (haven't we all had a moment like that ?). Would I copy any of it and say its mine? No.

  1. Thankfully I never read her blog. I did see her around on other people's blogs but never clicked through. Now I'm glad I didn't.

  3. Wow thats so uncool... I also dont see the point. If you are just copying it defeats the purpose... Some strange people out there...

  4. Geez, really?! What a loser! She commented on a post of mine once...never made an impression.

Brazen I've actually been copying and pasting your stuff for years! ;)

  5. Oh scandal! Plagerism isn't cool. But then neither is making her demise so public... kind of low.

But we can still be friends. As long as there isn't any copy/pasting! :)

  6. That's just LOW! I don't understand why people do that.

I have never read that blog, but I am glad to know Blogger removed it

  7. I just discovered a comment from her on my blog! (On an older entry) I was all; BE GONE SATAN!

    Harsh? Yeah. Probably.

    I was surprised though.

  8. Firstly, love that photo...where do you get them from?

Agree, if it is a personal blog, why do that? Does not make sense.

Well at least she was caught out.

  9. That's crazy! My fave personal crazy blogging moment was when 'Anonymous' commented on my engagement ring post that I have such a vivid imagination and how cute that I pretend to have experienced this love story and even wrote a post pretending to be the pretend fiancee... I laughed my ass off! Do you think anonymous thinks I photoshopped all the wedding pics too? Or maybe just pinched someone else's? Ha.

  10. That is very odd. You're right it is completely at odds with the idea of blogging. Very strange... And model mental - I love your story, how funny!

  11. I'm actually proud of my life, even if it is mostly kind of boring, and I find people who have to copy the personal lives of other people,a little loserish.I mean, just be honest if you're not doing much, don't steal someone else's personal stories.

  12. Ches - I knew it...heeheee

Modelmental - such a funny story - people are obviously too suspicious

  13. That's sort of pathetic seeing how blogs are supposed to be personal.

I went to a college with a really strict honor code and they would get you in trouble if you copied someone's ideas, even if you didn't KNOW that someone had that idea first. You wouldn't get kicked out, but you'd fail the assignment because it was a failure to make sure your idea was original.

  14. I never read her blog, but that sounds crazy to me. It is pointless to copy someone's personal blog. Being inspired is one thing, but full fledged copying someone elses personal thoughts sounds physco to me! That's some crazy stuff there!

  15. that's so uncool! I'm glad I never read that either, what a weirdo - modelmental's story is bizarre too...

  19. blogs are suppose to be a fun way to express yourself why she felt the need to copy is beyond me... I almost feel sorry for her

  20. I heard about this on one of the blogs she plagarized. So sad. I dont understand it. As a fellow blogger, if I dont have anything interesting or at least semi interesting to post, I just dont bother. That is why I dont post every day! Oh well! There will always be people who want to take the easy way out, I guess.

  21. I'm all flustergated. I hate copy caters! catters? cats? Anyways, love your blog though!

  22. Man, that is shocking! I'd rather not write anything (like the phase I'm going through at the moment...argh - so frustrating though) than copy someone elses work! Glad she's off blogger.

  23. Can't understand how someone would want to do that. . .

    I'm glad Blogger removed her.

  24. i think thats pathetic...

and why the hell hasnt anyone cared enough to RIP ME off??

  25. I've never read that particular blog either.

However, what's the point of plagiarising? One always gets found out eventually, and besides 99% of people are cool if you share their ideas/work so long as you credit them. Tis just redundant to rip other people off.

  26. I've heard about this all after the fact. I never read her blog (that I can remember). But this is so unbelievably uncool.

  27. Look at this this way....for the folks she copied, she must have thought they were pretty good, if she wanted to call them her own. Some folks just blog for the attention....she was probably also a compulsive liar in real life as well.

  28. You can always tell my stuff is my own...cos it's so...not well thought out these days...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I can't imagine taking someone's life experiences and passing them off as my own. It makes me sad thinking about it, well...sad and mad.

I mean, to have to steal someone's life means, more than likely, you aren't happy in yours.

Or, they are doing it for the glory of it? I mean, if that's the case, just make something up for crying out loud. :-)

  30. Very, very weird. I had no idea.

  31. Oh my! This is a first. Ive never heard of such a situation, its thoroughly bizarre to me. :) and weirdly funny, in the crazy way. Miss Musing clearly didnt have any muses and there just copied!
