Gym, mom missing, Batman and a quote

Last night I actually went to gym. Seriously, i did. I got my lazy butt into some gym clothes and drove to gym at 7pm. This is the second (yes, second) time I have gone this week. Sure I only manage to stay for 30 - 40 minutes....but at least I got there. Now, I just need to keep this up and stop procrastinating so much (i say this too often)*grins*

At the moment I really miss my mom. She is currently alone in Spain. She is doing this pilgrimage walk called the Camino. Basically what this means is that she is walking across Spain for a month (pretty nuts, hey). Apparently, after just a week, she already has blisters and is finding it harder than she thought. I'm sure she will finish it though (yip, shes awesome).

This weekend I plan to just relax at home, read my book and watch all the Batman movies ('cause they are having a Batman weekend on TV). I totally love all the Batman movies. Oh, and I may also do a bit of cleaning - if i absolutely have to *winks*

Because its Friday today (and i always put up a quote on Friday) I would like to share one of my new favourite quotes. I love it because its...well...so "me" and quite frankly I could not have said it better myself - Have a great weekend, y'all.....

"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure.
I make mistakes, I'm out of control,
and at times, a little hard to handle.
But if you can't handle me at my worst,
you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
- Marilyn Monroe

  7. Wow - Your mom sounds like the real adventurer - I read a book on the Camino by Shirley McLaine and it sounds like an amazing journey. Hard but spiritual. I hope she has a great time.
I'm also trying to go back to gym, but going at 7pm just seems too late for me! Wow, you must have willpower of steel to do that! Have a great weekend.

  9. OMG you're a star! Going to the gym! I HAVE TO GO!!! I'm so depressed by how I look lately and I'm terrible at going to the gym without a gym partner. I think I should start doing Kickboxing again... believe me it works!!!! And you constantly have someone to push you to your limits... I love it!

Love the quote, I've heard it before. Mind if I post on my sidebar?

    Good luck!

  11. I just adore this quote, I've heard it many times before, but I've never realized how much it reflects my true self until today :)

The gym, I've tried and got both the t-shirt and GOKD embership. . .for never going! Wow, Virgin sures makes a lot of money by my doing nothing, I've been "meaning" to go for the last 4 years, lol *ashamed*

What book are you reading cookz?

And good luckz to your mommy, rather her than me ;)

  12. You'll get back into gym, just focus on going say two times a week, then three times and so on - and keep your goals achievable, then you will be able to slowly work you way up to where you want to be.

Great quote by the way, and interesting about your mom's Spain trip... that's something I could totally see myself doing, hehe. Both my parents are also away, in France though on something like a second honeymoon, it's quite sweet.

  13. Firstly, I highly recommend trying some classes at the gym. Not sure what gym you go to but if it's Virgin or anything alike, classes are the best way to start you off and eliminate procrastination. It's how I went from 0 to kind-of-a-hero in a very short space of time. All you have to do is put on your gym clothes and rock up (that's all you need to commit to), leave the rest up to the personal trainer that takes the class. It's a lot of fun too...

    Secondly, your mom sounds amazing!!

Last but not least, the quote is amazing. I discovered it on someone else's blog recently, can't remember who now. Made it my facebook status and got serious feedback attention from some lady friends. I've even had a friend copy and paste it on to her status for more exposure. It's really touched people - ah, modern woman we all aim to be!! Perhaps a Marilyn revival is in order? She was such an anomaly, smart in a street-wise way. Must try find an E! True Hollywood story on her or something because I know so little. Wish I could say the quote describes me but I'm a real softy, especially when it comes to love. Need to start being more Marilyn in my approach to it - I'm trying!

Hope you had a fab weekend! Mine has been as relaxed as you were planning yours to be :)

  15. I go to the Wembley Square branch.

    Monday, 6:30pm: V-Box
    Tuesday, 5:30pm: Katabox.
    Thursday, 5:30pm: Bosu

I can also be a procrastinator so I don't always get around to all 3, every week, but I try. Each class is an hour long with warm-up at the beginning and stretching at the end so it's a full workout. I also try to throw in a walk on the Promenade every so often. My ideal would be to exercise 4 times per week - hmm, I'll get there eventually.

Now that I'm pretty in to it, I can't believe how I ever got by without exercise. Health and vanity aside, it's also an awesome release at the end of a busy work day...
