Movie moment

Samantha: I have to ask you a question. It's a good one so think about it. If two people love each other, but they just can't seem to get it together, when do you get to that point of enough is enough?
Jerry: Never.

I have decided that every now and then I will be sharing a favourite movie moment with y'all.

When I started to think about which "movie moment" to share first, I was torn between a few - there are just so many choices. So, I decided I would just start with a simple movie moment from "The Mexican" (starring Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts), that I have always found sweet and worth pondering .......

Would you answer what Jerry answered? Or is there a point where enough is enough for you?

  2. i would. I'm all for fighting for what's worth fighting for. Plus relationship with no fight gets boring. I LOVE this idea but I will not steel it!! lol

  3. Ahhh...this is great. And I agree with him. It might take you in different directions, or you may have time and space between you at times but enough is never enough.

  4. I love that show!!

I would like to think that I would answer never, and I would hope that my boyfriend would answer never as well, but I don't know that I would have the strength...

  5. I'm a romantic sap so I'm with Jerry on this one. Love is one of the only things ever really worth it in the end.

  6. I went out with a guy for a couple of years. We loved and cared for each other but we fought A LOT. It made us both miserable and there were many nights spent talking about our relationship until the early hours of the morning. At one point, I asked him this exact question and he actually reminded me of the movie "The Mexican" and said we should just keep trying because love is percious and you don't throw it away lightly. Anyway, a year or two later we broke up because enough was actually enough and all the fighting had eroded the feelings. Too many mean words had been exchanged and it was hard to forget them. I dont regret the relationship and the break-up - they were both life lessons that shaped us. Having said that, I would probably give up on "bad" relationship much sooner if I was ever in one again. That's the point of a lesson, right? You learn something.

  7. In my current relationship I'm something of a romantic because I'm confident things will work out with us, so I'd say I agree. In past relationships, though, I've definitely been at the point where enough was enough. Maybe it says something about whether or not you actually love the person as much as you think you do.

  8. I put this as a poll on my blog not too long ago. The choices for the answer were:

    Never
    Tomorrow
    Over Happy Hour
    Today

    Almost everyone chose TODAY.

  9. I really enjoyed that movie. I think that I my disagree though, I think people can start out loving each other but things can fall apart and at some point you need to walk away. Maybe.

  10. For me, enough is enough when he tries to run my life. Telling me what I should think/feel/do...and getting mad at me when I don't follow his 'suggestions'.

It was a 2 year relationship and, while I don't regret it, it wouldn't have lasted much longer, even if we'd tried harder.

  13. Ahh, yes. Movie moments. There is a reason they exist in the movies. Because they just don't have any place in reality.

It's such a romantic idea that struggling makes for a stronger, more fulfilling relationship. Just not a realistic one.

  14. I think I'm IN such a relationship. We just can't let go. Either one of us. I know enough should be enough but we just can't let the love we share go... shitty huh? Thanx for sharing your movie moment... hope I can blogsteal this idea from you???

  15. I think Jerry is just saying what she wants to hear...deep down he's like, "I'll drop her for Angelina in a heart beat!"

  16. I loathed that movie. But it was a good sappy moment.

I'd like to say I'd say the same, but who knows. I think if someone gets abusive, enough is probably immediately.

  17. Enough never seems to be enough for me. Although it shows great determination, it is not always the healthiest thing. But, it depends on the situation!

I must watch The Mexican again. I remember really enjoying it...

Hope you have a fabulous weekend :)

  20. I loved that part of the movie. I have tried for so long to fight for my family but when the other party isn't a willing participant, I'm out of options. So I have to move on, right?

  21. Wow. This post has just summed up the last year or so of my life, and I'm debating whether enough really is enough, because he and I just can't seem to get it together!
