Movie moment

Clementine: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
Joel: I know.
Clementine: What do we do?
Joel: Enjoy it.

Today's movie moment is from "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (I really love this quirky film)

Ok, it totally sucks when a relationship ends and all you want is to forget about it and you can't (I have had a few erase-worthy ones) - but there is also alot of growing and learning that comes with "getting over it" (what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, right?).
*
So as tempted as I would be to erase the hurt of a heartbreak or a bad memory - I wouldn't do it. I guess I would be worried I might erase a little piece of me along with it ;)
*
If you could (like in the movie), would you want any of your bad memories erased?

  1. I wish i could erase them but i always think everything good or bad happens for a reason so it would be bad to erase those things :)

  2. Oh my word! That is like one of my fav movies of all time!! :)

I'd erase them. But just the ones I choose. Some bad memories aren't always a bad thing.

  3. I adored that movie - stayed in my mind for ages after I watched it.

  4. Hmmm I've been chatting to a few friends of mine and am amazed at how they reread old love letters. Me? I erase them immediately and convince myself that the person didn't really matter in the first place.

  5. I agree with you that bad memories are a learning point, and that they should be used to make you stronger. So I wouldn't erase break up memories, but perhaps ones where I have fears from them, like water out of my depth. That can go!

  6. Dunno...don't think I would. Memroies are memories...want to die with a whole heap of them...mostly good ones tho...even tho some of the bad ones are quite funny.

  7. I love this movie and you are totally right. Every experience good or bad makes you who you are.

  8. There are quite a few things that I'd like to erase but I would probably regret them. There are things that perhaps could have been done differently though. I suppose we need good and bad times otherwise we wouldn't be where we are today. I just feel like leaving work early and going to the movies now.

  9. Oh Gosh, I have that movie in my pc and haven't seen it yet :O I'll definitely watch it this week-end, I hope:)
Anyway, I think we learn from bad memories and they help us to see the positive things in life, so I won't erase them... even if we'd love to. :)
    xx from madrid!

  10. That's a tough question considering we learn a lot from those experiences. I guess I'd keep a majority of those bad moments, but rid myself of others if I could.

  11. Though tempting, I would not erase a single memory, as horrible as some were (I have learned to let them go and try to focus on the good memories)...like the flap of a butterflies wings...

  12. There are times I remember being really week and pathetic and allowing myself to be treated badly. I cringe when I think of those moments, but there is always a chance that one day I won’t cringe and will be able to forgive myself – so when all is said and done – No, I don’t think I would want to ever erase anything. I would rather invest in memories more than anything.

With a title like that – the movie had to do well – I loved it!

  13. No way, you can't run from the past, you just gotta deal with it and let it help you grow.

That is one of my most favourite movies ever.

  14. I dont really remember the bad memories now! So would probably say no!

The bad memories sometimes turn into the funny memories :)

  15. I'd turn those bad memories into a sequel!

"Yet More Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

  16. Nononoooo! You're so right. You learn so much from the bad memories. And if nothing else, you learn what mistakes not to repeat. That, in and of itself, makes all the memories worth keeping.

  17. I wouldn't erase (bad) relationship memories because they were all learning experiences.

Bad family memories, on the other hand...in a heartbeat.

  18. I wouldn't change a thing - as much as the breakups were heart wrenching and awful, they've brought me to where I am now (cue cheesey after school special now!).

And isn't that one of the greatest Carrie Underwood songs? I was glad someone picked up on that :)

  19. Memories are what shape a person. You learn so much from them. Even if it hurts at the time. Even if it almost screwed you up at the time.. it's worth it in the end. We must just hold on.

  20. For the most part, no. As you said, I've learned so much from the mistakes, the bad choices, the bad memories and getting past them.

  21. I think that so many of my bad memories are somehow tied to good memories that I would worry about erasing the good with the bad...

  22. my fave fave fave movie. Nothing like it, and that is MY FAVORITE part of all.

honestly, i think i would erase my last relationship- the great love of my life. As sad as that is, it really is a tough one to forget and moreso the pain of it ending.

    i think i would.

isn't that a brave answer? or maybe actually... it's cowardly.
