Talking clothes

"Know, first, who you are;
and then adorn yourself accordingly." ~Epictetus

When looking in my closet the other day I realised it was a rather poor reflection of my personality. Most of my clothes are safe basics and I hardly have any dresses or skirts.

I am now on a quest to dress more in a way that reflects who I am. I want more pretty pieces, bold accesories and alot more dresses. Right now my clothing is saying "hi, I'm practically plain Jane" when I want them to be saying something like "hello, I'm girly and chic "

I think for a while I forgot how important it is to have fun with your clothes and use your clothes to further express yourself (even if you have to do it on a limited budget).

What do your clothes say about you right now?

  3. You can never go wrong with basics. All you need is the an assortment of accessories to dress them up. I'm trying to be more edgy. More rock and roll. More adventurous. More girly. And still be comfortable. Sexy, is not not the type of look I'm going for.

  11. Uhm, I totally fear that my clothes say just the same thing. Lots of basic, very little flair... but probably that reflects well how little I cared about these things at my last job, out of sheer exhaustion. Now I want my clothes to say something much more interesting... I'm working on it!

  13. To answer your question, my clothes probably say, 'He is a student and likes blue'

Probably just a guy thing but I really don't put all that much effort into thinking about what my clothes say about me...

  14. Hmmm....old tees that need to be trashed.
Dress pants that were washed too many times instead of dry cleaned.
crappy cheap shoes that are showing too much wear.
No jewelry to speak of....except for a pair of peace sign earrings that I just bought.
Only about a third of the stuff in my closet even FITS.
I would say mine say I hate my job but I'm not making much effort to find another. Maybe if I start buying some better clothes that will inspire me to get out of a job that doesn't "fit".

  15. this is such a cool mission! i usually concentrate on trying to find stuff that FITS right, but it is good to have it ALL -- stuff that fits, flatters and reflects what you want it to!

  16. I'm in the process of updating my wardrobe again, because I've worn everything out that I had been wearing. I'm opting for a lot more brave pieces than I used to, because my self esteem is stronger than it has ever been. More bright colours, bold designs, new shapes and lengths. It feels good.

  20. I wear a lot of jeans, and black. I have assorted styles of black tops/tshirts/blouses. I like my all star low tops and funky nail colours. I like gladiator sandals and my denim skirts.

I don't know what it says about me, but I also want a couple of dresses. (I never thought I'd say that)

  21. My wardrobe definitely needs to be updated, the only thing that makes my outfits pop are my accessories, but they can only do so much. I really need to go shopping!

  22. Boy can I relate. I spend so much time being inspired and drooling over all the pretty chic posts on others blogs. My wardrobe needs a big make over. It say nothing about who I am. The worst part is my daughter is a talented fashion design student, who always looks so stylish. Oh well...
