Here are some of my favourite 80's films (in no particular order):
- Say anything (1989) - Seriously, how rad was the scene when John Cusack holds the boombox over his head and Peter Gabriel's "in your eyes" is playing?
- Dirty Dancing (1987) - "nobody puts baby in corner". For a while I think every girl in the world wanted to be Baby, so we could dance with Patrick Swazye.
- Ferris Buellers Day off (1986) - The best movie about sneaking a day off school...ever!
- Footloose - the original (1984) - "Footloose, footloose, kick off your sunday shoes....." - Man, Kevin Bacon really danced his butt off in this film.
- The Lost Boys (1987) - I think this is a must-see for vampire movie fans. Also there's plenty of cool 80's hair and fashion to
cringe atlook at. - The Princess Bride (1987) - Filled with everything a good fairy tale needs
- Splash (1984) -Darryl Hannah and Tom Hanks were so great in this film. After watching this I desperately wanted to be a mermaid.
- Back to the Future (1985) - Michael J Fox + a time machine car = awesome
- Better off Dead (1985) - A funny, very quirky, John Cusack film (he rocks).
- Steel Magnolias (1989) - A classic chick flick
What are some of your favourite 80's films?
oh wow! love all of these
ReplyDeletewatched Princess Bride recently and it was still as awesome as when I was younger.
saw the trailer for the Footloose remake and not too happy about it. It's just not the same.
*nods head in agreement with 6, 7 & 8*
ReplyDeleteI am a huge Indiana Jones fan and Raiders of the Lost Ark, Last Crusade & Temple of Doom are on my list... along with the two Star Wars films of that decade.
Tim Burton's Batman and Beetlejuice also get a mention ;)
What a fun idea :D

Skinny bitches in the making - I totally agree
ReplyDeleteQuinn - LOVE those films too - so many 80's films I love. I woul dhave a seriously long list if I listed all my favourites.
I LOVED Splash, my sisters and I were obsessed with being a mermaid and we used swim in the pool with our legs tied together, ha ha! I thought Daryll Hannah was SO beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKevin Bacon undid the Footloose goodness for me by playing like every creepy character ever afterwards! Sigh! (Like Invisible Man, blegh)
Have you watch Easy A with Emma Stone? They do a tribute to that John Cusack scene - love it!
Jenny - Yes, loved Easy A and the John Cusack/say anything tribute :)
ReplyDeleteOMG. SPLASH is my favourite movie! I could still watch it over and over again!

i agree with you, why do they have to mess with the classics?! Lets just hope kevin bacon does do a cameo in it. Yikes.

ReplyDeleteFerris Buellers Day off = Legendary!
ReplyDeleteLoved all those films.... plus ET, Mannequin (Kim Cattrall) and Big (Tom Hanks). I'd also say Pretty Woman but technically that's 1990 :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Don't forget Flashdance and An Officer and a Gentleman. Sigh.
ReplyDelete1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 are some of my favorites from the 80's! And I loves me some John Cusack!
ReplyDeleteI saw Steel Magnolias but I didn't love it. I think Julia Roberts had something to do with it.
