Hotel Review: The Robertson Small

Looking for a luxury getaway in Robertson? Well, I have just the place for you.

Not too long ago, We spent a night at The Roberston Small Hotel and it was easy to see how it is the towns most top rated hotel.

The Hotel

The Small Hotel is located on a quiet, tree-lined, residential street in the town of Robertson (about a 2 hour drive from Cape Town city).

Housed in a renovated Victorian home, this boutique hotel has everything you'd expect from a luxury stay and plenty of the character you'd hope to find.

There are 10 well appointed rooms, all beautifully decorated  and offering their own charms. There are also two pools, two garden areas (one is a cactus garden), a restaurant, spa and a bar on the property.

Our room

From the moment we walked into the hotel, we felt at ease. Staff were eager to greet us and, on checking in, we were upgraded from our very standard room to a 'Pool Suite' ( I was ecstatic!).

We were shown to our suite and it was marvelous. There was so much attention to detail and it felt like a fancy home away from home. Little extras included: a complimentary bottle of chilled champagne, complimentary small bottle of red wine, robes, coffee & tea making facilities, TV, wifi and turn down service.

Hands down the best thing about the pool suites are the pool views and patio areas, which all have steps leading into the shared pool. It is blissful, to say the least.

The Small Restaurant

This intimate restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The decor is contemporary and simple, with huge glass doors that allow the outside and inside to flow into each other.  The menu incorporates local produce into it's classic, yet sophisticated dishes and all the wines on offer are from the surrounding valley.

We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were enjoyable.

Side note: Non-guests can also make bookings at this restaurant or enjoy drinks at the bar.

Final thoughts:

I was impressed with so much about this place -  The staff are truly wonderful, rooms are gorgeous and the overall feel is of tranquility & understated luxury.

Just to give you an idea of how over and above the staff are here -  when my hubs and I were leaving, one of the staff had actually washed our car for us (seriously, they washed our car!!)

Would I stay here again? Yes, without a doubt. The Small Hotel deserves all the stars and praise it receives.
