The power yoga DVD I have is for beginners and has 2 x 20 minute sessions on it. Though the yoga instructors seemed to change positions really quickly (i was still half asleep) and getting my breathing right took a little practice, I still found that I managed to do all the positions rather easily and felt like i had a nice workout after doing both sessions.
What I loved most about doing yoga with a DVD instead of with people around me was that I could just do it in my living room, make a fool of myself and wear anything (or nothing).
I think I will try and do this DVD a few more times to get the hang of it and see if it gets addictive. If I really like it I may have to go and find a nice yoga class to join (or maybe I will just invest in a more advanced yoga DVD).
Have you tried any new exercises lately?
Nope. I don't believe in exercise. If God wanted us to run he'd have placed us in a hamster wheel.
ReplyDeleteVery cool Brazen! No doubt you know how much I love yoga. With all seriousness, it changed my life. I hope you carry on!
ReplyDeleteSid - hahaha!
ReplyDeleteDT - It was very cool to try yoga. I will let you know if i get addicted to it :)
I'm going for a intro lesson in aikido tonight....not sure how that will pan out, but want to try anyway :-)
ReplyDeletei have been dying to try yoga aswell. I have a Wii game that has it on, might just give it a try now :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you reckon you have to be flexible to do Yoga? I can't even touch my toes but I've always wanted to try Yoga.
ReplyDeleteI have thought about exercise, but only thought.
ReplyDeletehaven't tried anything new but this morning, i went to gyn, did 40 minutes of cardio and didn't die. that should count for something.
ReplyDeleteI have been doing the tae-bo ones (well for a whole 2 days in a row now) think I should invest in a yoga one as well!
ReplyDeleteYoga rocks!!! I miss my classes - did them at gym but now they instructor has left!!!
ReplyDeleteyoga's good stick with it
ReplyDeletei LOOOOOVE yoga!! no sweating & you will still be sore the next day! win win!!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Sid....that was me 15 yrs ago!
ReplyDeleteBrazen - I do believe I have the same dvd but had a very different experience...I shall be passing it on to my stepmum.
I am simply NOT a yoga gal. I need high energy, interval training....kickboxing and the like. I felt like such a fool in my lounge doing downward dogs and sunset warrior thingies!
I think the WII fit could be fun too.
Strength to you!
In the USA there are these tapes of 10 minute stuff. 10 minute arm workouts, 10 minute ab tapes, 10 minute salsa dancing. I try those. I never been much of a yoga person but I think I'm going to try it soon cuz it's slow. Good luck with the yoga!!
ReplyDeleteI also love yoga. I have a lovely DVD at home. I did it three times this holiday! *blush* I was planning on more but my diary was full.
ReplyDeleteI've never tried yoga but I would really like to this year. I'm a very high strung person so I think it would do me some good!
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to love Pilates! I would love to get really strong core muscles. That would rock!
ReplyDeleteIf you like Yoga, try and get a Wii Fit, with a Balance Board. The Yoga Program on there is very advanced but easy to learn.
ReplyDeletei love working out at home! i get so hot and sweaty that the clothes don't stay on for long, and that does not matter at home! i would love to try this, too! but not at 5:30 am. shudder.
ReplyDeleteoh I love yoga!!!
ReplyDeleteI hardly ever use vids these days though -- between all the classes I'm taking there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day.
I just plop myself down whenever I feel like it, and work on a few of my favorite moves, like downward facing dog:D
I'm going to be learning salsa soon, does that count as trying a new exercise? :)

my pet aversion. That's why I have a power chair now. Only exercise I get now is my fingers on a mouse
