Ginja restaurant

Last week I had dinner at Ginja Restaurant, which is located inside the Victoria and Alfred Hotel, and here is what i thought...

The vibe... The restaurant is close to the waters edge and offers you a great view across the harbour toward table mountain (especially if you decide to dine al fresco). The decor is modern and uncluttered, which makes the space feel relaxed and spacious. As with most of the restaurants at the Waterfront, the crowd seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals.

The service... Our waiter was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the food. We also appreciated not feeling rushed ( i have sometimes felt a bit hurried when restaurants overbook and need you to eat & leave quickly).

The Food...  the menu, while not too big and overwhelming, has something for almost everyone. I decided to try the 200g, chargrilled Karan beef fillet with sweet potato fries and it was fantastic (pictured above). My mom wanted something lighter and had the seared Tuna with a side salad, which was also very tasty.
My dessert choice, the chocolate cream/chocolate brownie/pistachio ice-cream, was very yummy - but the star of the dessert show had to be my moms dessert choice, The ginger & pear tart with cream (pictured above). It was a wonderful mix of flavours and wasn't too heavy.

The prices were reasonable with mains costing R130 - R210 per person (including side dish) and desserts ranging from R40 to R85 .

Final thought... All in all it was a satisfyingly good dinner. If you are looking for a relaxed restaurant with good service and a lovely waterfront view, give it a try.
