Running from changing room mirrors

After a rather horrid encounter with my reflection in a changing room mirror on Saturday afternoon (Dear YDE, your mirrors suck!) I resolved to start exercising ALOT more

So, as the sun was about to set on Saturday, I decided to leave my house (with my i-pod in hand) to go exercise -My mission: jog as far as my body would let me *grin*.

Needless to say, The Boyf was mighty surprised to hear me proclaim that I was actually leaving the house to "go for a run". I think he must have misheard me because he replied "have fun".

As I emerged from my nice, cosy apartment block I scrolled through my i-pod for some inspirational music... I decided on the Gossip Girl Soundtrack, which for some reason gets me very happy lately.

After a moment of standing on the pavement and wondering how i should start, I just launched myself into a run (maybe not the best idea), By the end of the road I was panting and wheezing like an overweight chain smoker (and I am neither of those things). I managed to walk a bit further and then eventually admitted a temporary defeat and tried to jog all the way back home….

When I got back into the apartment I could tell The Boyf was rather amused to see I was back home after only about 10 minutes, but as usual he was encouraging and Said things like “it will get easier the more you do it” and “look how cute you’re red, glowing face is” (you rock, hun!)

Last night I attempted to go for a run/walk again (which seriously impressed The Boyf). I didnt really feel like it at first , but then I remembered my horrid changing room moment and I was off....... (tonight i may have to hit the gym)

Hmmm, maybe i should be thanking the clothing stores for their horrible changing rooms - because if it wasn't for their horrible lighting and honest mirrors I would not be feeling as motivated as I am right now.

What motivates you to exercise?

  1. he is right, it defffffinitely gets easier the more you do it. Soon you'll be doing 5ks in your sleep! Running is the best way to keep your overall bod weight down and it's such a good stress reliever! don't quit on it. Soon you'll be obsessed.

  2. Hey, i was like you...but I cut a running program out of a mag a while back and it had me running 5km's comfortably in less than a month. I can mail it to ya?

My motivation is the endorphins....seriously. Nothing (legal) beats them!

  3. Personal running trainer podcast! It's seriously the best thig ever. It starts you off slow, then build up as you get stronger. It's on you iPod and has great music that will keep you at a good tempo. I've moved from the 5k to the half-marathon (and I seriously hated running on day one) on that program so I can promise that it works.

  5. My man used to go to the gym on a regular basis. He recently started back and calls to complain about his aches and pains. I said, "You know, you can't do the routine you used to do, it's been too long." He said, "I'm not! I'm only doing 3 reps of 10." He was doing 10 reps of 10 when he stopped.

    I can't help it, I lol'ed. ; )

My advice is to start out slow and build your endurance/stamina.

  6. I so home-bound that it does not occur to me to step out the front door unless prompted by an arm reaching in a extracting me out for a walk & talk around the block.

Worse than that, I find that I prefer to be bed-bound as well, and I found that my best time for stretching and moving and posturing is before my feet hit the ground.

  7. You're WAY braver than me to start running! i Aam planning on starting to do some form of exercise though.

My motivation is simple. I have a dress from pre-shae days. i LOVE that dress so much that it's the ONLY item of clothing that i've kept that's too small for me. i want to fit back into it. i HAVE to fit back into it.
