If your answer is yes to the above questions then you must really be freaking out thats its Friday the 13th today *grins*.
I did a little google search for facts, myths and origins about the number 13. As expected, plenty of info came up, like......
Did you know that:
* For centuries people have had a fear of the number 13? (Random fact alert: the fear of the number 13 is called Triskaidekaphobia.)
* Apparently millions of people stay off work on friday the 13th
* In many hotels/skyscrapers there is no 13th floor and most airplanes have no seat No. 13 (weird, huh)
Personally, I'm not superstitious at all (i don't really undertsand how some people are?) and the only "Friday the 13th" that scares me a bit is the movie.
>
Are you superstitious?
Yeah I don't really pay attention to the Friday 13th nonsense.
ReplyDeleteNope. And I have a black cat named Onyx, too!
ReplyDelete(Although, when my mother was a girl her brother two years older than her was killed in a car accident on Friday the 13th, she still didn't raise my sis and me to be spooked by the day.)
Have a lucky day. :)
Definitely a little weird. But the medicine is to just NOT believe in it. The mind is so powerful.
ReplyDeleteDidnt even realise today was 13th! All a bunch of huey really. Quite frankly, we live in a world where every day is a bit dodgy so why bother with superstition!
ReplyDeleteI dont really belive in stuff like that but once i do start thinking about it i can freak myself out :P lol
ReplyDeletewhen i was at college, they were doing construction near one of the exits and there was this ladder in the middle of the walkway. half the students climbed over ladder so they wouldn't have to walk underneath it.
ReplyDeletei have to admit the other day at breakfast i spilled salt and then threw some over my shoulder. just in case!
As long as my birthday doesn't fall on a Friday the 13th, I am fine. Thankfully I was born on the 31ste!
ReplyDeleteI'm not superstitious about that kind of thing at all, but when it comes to my experiments at work, I am super duperstitious!
ReplyDeleteI'm not superstitious, either. It's fascinating, though, yeah? Just picking at people's brains and trying to understand why they're superstitious! Plus, the stories behind these superstitions are fun.
ReplyDeleteI heard somewhere that the fear of 13 was simply as we did not have the instruments to calculate up to 13 (long, long ago!).
